The project consists of the construction, reconstruction, modernization and expansion of a high specification A4 type highway, in accordance with the current regulations of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), with four lanes of 3.5 m each, two in each direction, exterior shoulders of 2.5 m each and separation between directions of 1 m; with a total length of 87 km, to connect the MEX-085 Ciudad Victoria-Monterrey Highway with the MEX-057 Matehuala-Entronque Puerto Mexico Highway.

The Interserrana Highway includes the following components:
- Section 1 (15 km): Modernization from the junction with Federal Highway MEX-085 to the beginning of the interserrana zone.
- Section 2 (38 km): New construction of 32 km, 43 bridges, 2 tunnels, 4 stabilizations, 4 emergency ramps and 4 tourist stops. From the beginning to the end of the interserrana zone.
- Section 3 (34 km): Reconstruction and widening from the end of the interserrana zone to the junction with Federal Highway MEX-057.
• Sub section 3 A: 18 km of road and 3 road junctions.
• Sub section 3 B: 14 km Road and a river crossing.
