As part of the water policy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Government of Mexico, through the Comisión Nacional del Agua (National Water Commission, Conagua), in coordination with the Government of the State of Sonora, is implementing the Comprehensive Water Plan for Sonora, a strategy that integrates actions to modernize the agricultural sector in the state and guarantee the human right to water, with a historic six-year investment of MXN 11,500 million.

Banobras Successfully Places MXN 17 billion Through Four Bonds in the Local Market

The Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos (Banobras) successfully issued four traditional bonds in the local market—BANOB 26, BANOB 26-2, BANOB 26-3, and BANOB 26-4—for a total amount of MXN 17 billion.

  • The proceeds from these traditional bonds will be allocated to the development of infrastructure in strategic sectors under the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
  • This placement is the result of ongoing strategic coordination between Banobras and the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), led by Minister Edgar Amador Zamora.
  • A total of 27 institutional investors participated, including broker-dealers, development banks, pension funds (Afores), investment funds, insurance companies, and commercial banks.
  • The transaction was well received, with total demand reaching 1.36 times the amount placed.

CFE: 58 Projects to Strengthen Electricity Transmission in Mexico

The Federal Electricity Commission (Comisión Federal de Electricidad, CFE) presented its portfolio of transmission and transformation projects for 2026–2027, a strategy aimed at strengthening the National Transmission Grid (Red Nacional de Transmisión, RNT) through greater private sector participation.
CFE’s electricity expansion plan includes 138 transmission lines and 249 substations, with mixed financing through Fibra E instruments and public works, in line with the national energy strategy.

Salina Cruz–Zihuatanejo Highway: More than MXN 24 billion to be invested

The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), reported progress in the modernization of the Salina Cruz–Zihuatanejo highway, which connects Oaxaca and Guerrero, benefiting 1.9 million inhabitants. In 2025, 27 km were widened and eight bridges were built; this year, work will continue on an additional 37 km.

This project is one of the current administration’s Priority Corridors, with an investment of more than MXN 24 billion.

Colima: MXN 8,866 million in highway infrastructure investment

The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), will invest MXN 8,866 million in the state of Colima in highway infrastructure works, which will generate 26,598 jobs.

The head of SICT, Jesús Esteva Medina, stated that four main actions are being carried out: MegaBachetón, bridges and grade interchanges, highways, and rural roads.

Pemex: Start of operations at the Trión Field

As a result of the partnership between Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Australian company Woodside Energy, this project represents Pemex’s most significant, capital-intensive, and complex development, requiring an investment of more than USD 10 billion due to the major technological challenges involved.

The project contemplates hydrocarbon extraction, as well as the development of value chains, supply chains, and productive linkages.

Highway Infrastructure Program: 397,046 million MXN in investment

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, stated that the Highway Infrastructure Program is ambitious and historic, as it contemplates public and mixed investment totaling MXN 397,046 million for the intervention of nearly 5,000 kilometers (km) of highways and roads, as well as 29 km across 21 bridges.
This program will generate employment, reduce travel times, improve quality of life, reduce poverty and inequality, and strengthen national connectivity.
