Description

National Irrigation Modernization Program

The program aims to modernize irrigation systems to produce more with less water, allocating the surplus for human consumption and aquifer recharge.

Activities will include canal lining, canal piping, road lining, installation of automated flow-measuring structures, automated gates, maintenance of standard and special structures, drainage network rectification and reinforcement of protection levees, equipping of pumping plants, relocation and replacement of deep wells, construction of flumes, piping of distribution networks in wells, drip irrigation systems, micro-sprinkler, sprinkler, or multi-gate systems, etc.; replacement and supplementation of conventional energy sources with renewable ones, installation of field drainage, and land leveling.

Investment: 62.867 billion MXN

Targets:

Modernize more than 200,000 hectares of irrigated land
Benefit at least 225,000 agricultural producers
Allocate 2.8 billion cubic meters of water for human consumption

For 2025, an investment of 5.2 billion MXN is planned, of which 4.62 billion MXN will come from federal funds and the rest will be contributed by users and state governments.
