The Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) is a multimodal logistics platform designed to promote well-being and regional development across its area of influence, which includes the states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Chiapas. This initiative is implemented through coordination among the National Port System Administrations of Coatzacoalcos, Salina Cruz, Dos Bocas, and Puerto Chiapas, their interconnection via the Isthmus of Tehuantepec Railway, and the establishment of Development Poles for Well-Being under a comprehensive, sustainable, and inclusive approach that fosters economic, productive, and cultural growth.

Isthmus of Tehuantepec Railway
With a length of 308.5 km, running from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, to Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, rehabilitation works began in 2019, and operations commenced in December 2023. Along its route, the line includes 16 stations.
In addition to freight services, Line Z provides scheduled passenger service with trains capable of carrying up to 400 passengers, offering Managerial, Executive, and Tourist classes.
Additionally, in December 2025, the El Tehuanito Suburban Train will begin operations from Monday to Friday over a distance of 189 km, offering two low-cost routes:
- El Tehuanito North Route: connects Ubero to Ixtepec, with stops at nine stations—Donají, Sarabia, Mogoñé, Matías Romero, Lagunas, Chívela, and Nizanda.
- El Tehuanito South Route: runs from Unión Hidalgo to Salina Cruz, including seven stations—Juchitán, Espinal, Ixtepec, Comitancillo, and Tehuantepec.

With a total length of 330.45 km, rehabilitation began in 2023 and operations started in September 2024. The line includes seven stations and will interconnect with the Olmeca Refinery and, in Palenque, with the Tren Maya. It will also connect, through the Roberto Ayala Branch Line, to ASIPONA Dos Bocas via new railway tracks totaling 112.5 km. These works include three projects scheduled for completion in March 2027:
- Roberto Ayala–Dos Bocas Branch Line (90.84 km)
- Olmeca Refinery Branch (13.5 km)
- ASIPONA Dos Bocas Branch (8.2 km)
With a length of 447 km, this rehabilitation project began in 2023 and is being developed in three sections. It will interconnect the Mexican Railway Network with Central America through the border with Guatemala.
- Section 1: Ciudad Ixtepec – Tonalá | Inaugurated on November 21, 2025
Stations: Juchitán and Chahuites (Oaxaca); Arriaga and Tonalá (Chiapas) - Section 2: Tonalá – Huixtla | Scheduled completion: July 2026

National Port System Administration
ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos comprises two port facilities:
- Coatzacoalcos Facility: 12 berths, 10 warehouses, and 31 concessionaires.
- Pajaritos Port Facility: 1 berth and 4 storage warehouses operated by the Port Authority, plus 18 additional berths.

Development Poles for Well-Being
Within the area of influence of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, 14 Development Poles for Well-Being will be established to attract industries aligned with regional productive strengths. These poles will be eligible for federal and state tax incentives to promote job creation, economic growth, and comprehensive regional development.
